When looking at sound, we focussed on a scene from 13 reasons why. When watching it we first listened to it with the sound turned on, and then listened to it with the sound turned off. We then had to identify all of the different sounds in the video. Obviously the music was a main feature of the video and then we also noticed the foot steps when Clay was walking down the corridor, as well as the school bell at thye end of the video. The dialogue that hannah was speaking had to be recreated by someone else.
We also learned about diagetic and non- diagetic sound. Diagetic sound is the sound that is actually in the scene, for example the footsteps when Clay was walking down the corridor, or when the actors are speaking in the scene. Non diagetic sound is when the sound is not picked up on screen and so has to be added during the edited process. For example, music being added to increase the tension or to make it a recognisable movie, such as the juarassic park music, the music wasnt playing whilst the film was being shot, it got added in during the editing process.
When making the video, we used Elsa to say the lines that Hannah was speaking in that scene, we had to time how long Hannah took to speak in the original and then timed the breaks inbetween each section. I watched the orignal video and then wrote down what she was saying to allow Elsa to say the exact same thing. We recorded it as a video and then layered the video over the orignal video and cut out the video and it just left us with the audio.
This is the final video:
I personally think that this project went well, the most difficult part was to sync the music in the right place as well as finding the suitable music and to get it to start in the right place, but other than that this task was relatively easy. If we were to improve, i would maybe film the dialogue in a proper recording studio however due to time constrictions we werent able to get in the studio.
Good work here Lauren. Your practical sound work is really accurate and your planning/research is documented well. This is the standard to keep to. Well done!
We are using the weather as a main component to create the feel of Narnia, In the original film throughout we can see the snow, in order to recreate the snowy feel rather than snowing throughout when the Pevensie's make it to the beavers house we can see them brushing off snow showing that it did snow, the audience then makes the assumption that it was snowing adding to the whole feel of Narnia as snow has connotations of utopian weather. We also are adding clips of snow at the end of the production adding to the whole feel or Narnia. As well as this in editing we are going to add fog effect to create a mysterious feel to the video. The next component to create Narnia was the setting, Throughout we are setting the location in the wood, we wanted it to be in the wood to create a natural setting that isn't man made, this creates a woodland feel and transports the audience to another out of this world place which is not on earth all adding to the feel ...
Setting and Lighting The setting within the image shows a city, perhaps New York City. With people surrounding the man in the red coat. The lighting in the image shows low saturation, perhaps it is the evening time and so the sun is setting or the light is used to reflect how the character is feeling. By having the lighting on a low saturated level, it implies sadness, or anxiety and by the image showing a city it could imply that the city is causing the man his problems. A different point of view could be that the city is introducing the character as different people act in different ways depending on where they come from. For example, if the man was walking through the countryside it could imply that he is lonely and has a quiet life, but by having him walk through a city it could portray the idea that he has a busy schedule and by looking at his body language it could imply that he is not happy with where he is. Costume and Make up The first feature in which I notice ...
In the script for Narnia, these are our list of characters: Mr Beaver Mr Beaver is a comical character, however he also plays a crucial role in telling the Pevensie children that they play a crucial role in killing the Ice Queen and that Aslan is waiting for them. He seems to be the eyes and the ears of Narnia although no one expects it. Mr Tumnus and Mr Beaver seem to be close aquanitances as he gave Mr beaver the handerchief before he got taken. Mrs Beaver Mrs Beaver is also a comical character. She plays a 'typical' 'old fashioned' female as when the children arrive she tells them that she hasnt had time to do her fur, and to "excuse the mess" as if it is her job to tidy the house. She is also the one to tell the children that they are the two sons of Adam and the two daughters of Eve. Lucy Pevensie Lucy Pevensie is the youngest out of the children. She was also the first to enter Narnia although that isnt the scene in which we are focu...
