When looking at sound, we focussed on a scene from 13 reasons why. When watching it we first listened to it with the sound turned on, and then listened to it with the sound turned off. We then had to identify all of the different sounds in the video. Obviously the music was a main feature of the video and then we also noticed the foot steps when Clay was walking down the corridor, as well as the school bell at thye end of the video. The dialogue that hannah was speaking had to be recreated by someone else.
We also learned about diagetic and non- diagetic sound. Diagetic sound is the sound that is actually in the scene, for example the footsteps when Clay was walking down the corridor, or when the actors are speaking in the scene. Non diagetic sound is when the sound is not picked up on screen and so has to be added during the edited process. For example, music being added to increase the tension or to make it a recognisable movie, such as the juarassic park music, the music wasnt playing whilst the film was being shot, it got added in during the editing process.
When making the video, we used Elsa to say the lines that Hannah was speaking in that scene, we had to time how long Hannah took to speak in the original and then timed the breaks inbetween each section. I watched the orignal video and then wrote down what she was saying to allow Elsa to say the exact same thing. We recorded it as a video and then layered the video over the orignal video and cut out the video and it just left us with the audio.
This is the final video:
I personally think that this project went well, the most difficult part was to sync the music in the right place as well as finding the suitable music and to get it to start in the right place, but other than that this task was relatively easy. If we were to improve, i would maybe film the dialogue in a proper recording studio however due to time constrictions we werent able to get in the studio.
Good work here Lauren. Your practical sound work is really accurate and your planning/research is documented well. This is the standard to keep to. Well done!
When looking at sound, we focussed on a scene from love actaully. This scene is the opening scene and has dialog over the top of videos from Heathrow airport. When watching it we first listened to it with the sound turned on, and then listened to it with the sound turned off. We then had to identify all of the different sounds in the video. The main feature of the video was the voice over by David (Huge Grant) and then we also noticed the music behind it. When making the video, we used Oscar Stevens to say the lines that David (Huge Grant) was speaking in that scene, we had to time how long David took to speak in the original and then timed the breaks inbetween each section. I watched the orignal video and then wrote down what she was saying to allow Oscra to say the exact same thing and match the time. We recorded it as a video and then layered the video over the orignal video and cut out the video and it just left us with the audio. This is the final video: ...
We discussed a name for the production company, with final options being: - Star Productions - Project Illusion - Ascension Studios - Andromeda Productions - Infinite Studios - Radiant Productions - Incognito Productions - Sapien Studios - Project Serpent We originally settled with "Star Productions" however after some small researching, we discovered that it was already taken by a company. This is the logo that what designed for Star Productions: After discovering that it was taken, we chose a different name and settled with "Project Illusion". This is the current logo for our production company: The reason for this design is based upon the "Illusion" part of our name, with the triangle being the "Infinity Triangle", a common optical illusion.
‘In the context of the film production process, it does not make sense to talk about the director as the films auteur’ – discuss how valid this view is in relation to examples from Pride and The Hunger Games.
